Writing? Ughhh. How can someone just keep writing, on and on, day and night about every little thing. Well, it gets tough for majority of people but if you ask me,'Writing' is the only reason that changed my life. Okay, let me elaborate it with a thought experiment. I'll prove it to you that not only you can travel forward in time but also backward. Don't believe me? See, I wrote this sentence at 2:47pm on Wednesday March 20 in Mumbai, but at this very moment my words are currently inside your head, aren't they? Ok, so we can't physically travel back in time but the magic of writing makes us telephatic, meaning capable of transmitting thoughts to other people. When I say "writing", by the way, I don't mean tweets, status updates, project proposals, invoices, thank you letters or love letters or a complaint letter to someone. They don't count, because they're written for other people, not you.
So let me tell you about how I started writing...
A few years ago, I completely, totally, messed up my life, I was not okay or say it like I wasn't happy, somewhat near to depression, it felt like that, for about 8 months straight, due to some reasons. I couldn't eat, drink, sleep or think about anything else. All I did was nothing. Many days passed and one day, a question suddenly popped in my mind, "How long are you going to continue with this?". I was stunned to think about how and what I'm going to do after this (middle school). I started searching for the answer. Meanwhile, I started writing whatever I thought, because I usually tend to forget things then, so I developed the habit of writing and trust me, that helped me find my answer and I was out of depression just like that, I didn't even come to know. I didn't figure out what I'll do but it was more like a theory in the back of my head.
Well stated quote, 'No one's life is as amazing as their instagram feed'; that phase when I was in depression, as everyone thought I had many friends to talk to, chill with, hangout with, surprisingly, truth was just it's opposite. Don't believe me? Honestly, I don't care either. In teenage years, everyone thinks others' life is amazing when the truth is everyone is dealing with their own sh*t. Coming back to the story, that phase was disastrous. But knowingly, that phase is the actual reason of how I am today and guess what? Writing helped me when no one else did as it helped my mind go with the flow, all that gunk that I had in my brain cells were thrown on a sheet of paper.
Meanwhile, I started a personal blog, and wrote an article about 'Power of Silence'. That was the first time I'd been honest about my feelings online and the response took me by surprise.I still get messages about that article. And thanks to y'all sweet hearts who honestly wanted to read my blog. My decision of writing is one of the best decisions I've ever taken and I think if you do that too, you'll have a great life ahead.
Start with writing journals at the beginning if you're not so fond of writing. Maintain a journal and write about how your day was, write down about your dreams, making lists of ideas and just talk to yourself, that will give you a huge insight into your inner thoughts. Thank me later if this works. xD Also, I thank all those people who reacted like they existed in my life and hell they didn't give a damn about me, thanks to y'all who made me like how I am today. Wondering how I am today? Stronger than before, not involving in meaningless gossips, not hanging out much with those who don't even ask you after those meetups. Most importantly, not believing in rumors. Never believe what people say about others. In most cases, rumors are exactly opposite from what the truth is. Don't be the reason of making someone sad, instead, be the reason someone smiles today. I, honestly, don't know how people sleep at night when they just know that they abused someone very badly, or said some wrong things to someone, about someone, to someone.
Writing is the solution to all the negativity that's running in your mind because writing doesn't just help you, it can help anyone who reads what you've written just like you all who are reading this blog. Just talk to yourself when you write, don't judge what you've written; just throw those words in your mind on the paper and let it go. Some people write to influence others, so that people can read them and have a positive influence in their lives. By teaching what you know, you can turn the learning process into a feedback loop, an echo chamber of your ideas. Learn, Teach. Learn. Teach. Learn. Teach. It's an infinite loop.
If you're influenced by this even a bit and thinking to start writing. Here are few tips you can keep in mind:
1. Read more: Learn about things by reading and then teach people by writing.
2. Don't worry about how you're going to find readers, which blogging platform to use or which text editor to use. Just start writing.
3. Write like you talk. When you talk to yourself, you tend to think about many positive ideas that you want to do ahead but never end up doing. Try writing it down.
4. Don't just write blogs, tell stories.
5. Share your genuine thoughts and opinions.
6. Edit ruthlessly.
So I'm going to wrap things up now. I hope my words implement some positive ideas in your mind and help you achieve many great things in life ahead. Lastly I would say, if you want people to hear about your business, you should write, if you care about sharing and improving ideas, you should write. And above all, if you want to find your voice, and to understand yourself, you should write. Also, share me your experiences about what changed your life. I'd love to hear them. And also, let me know if you start writing ahead and it brings some change in you too.
LOVE! <3
