WHAT I LEARNED FROM 2018!

When I sat down to think about positives and negatives I faced in 2018, also preparing for the New Year, setting my goals and planning how I was going to achieve the things I really wanted, it dawned on me just how insane and reflective 2018 was. The fact, that there are many things to share but it’d be a little injustice trying to fit all that in a single blog so I thought I’d share top 7 lessons I learned this year. Hope this helps. J
 1.   Try to Invest in yourself.   I’ve talked about this earlier, in my previous blogs that loving and investing in yourself is so much necessary. Also that, this year investing in myself was one of my top priorities, and I must say it has come through. Whether it was buying books, or something seemingly as trivial as upgrading my wardrobe.    So far, it’s proven to be true. Hence, I’ll continue to do so. In the past seven months, I have purchased more books than I probably had in the past two years. Why? Because I’ve learned the importance of investing in my growth and development.

After I started doing it, I realized how important it is to invest in your today for a better result tomorrow!
2.  Say no more often.
I’m the type of person who dislikes saying no to people, just to make them happy at the expense of my own happiness. Saying yes can be good, don’t get me wrong, but saying no is perfectly okay too. And I’ve to work on that as well.

Saying no to some things which doesn’t make you happy can help you sort your priorities which is ultimately good for you. So that’s a win-win right there.

3. People are always watching you.   In a way, I’ve always known this. More specifically, with my blogs, I have the numbers to prove it. However, this year, I’ve learned in an almost awe astonishing way that people are always watching you. Whether its for inspiration, motivation, or just to be nosey, I’ve learned that I have to be intentional about the things that I do.

Being an inspiration for people has always been my priority and it will always continue to top the list. No matter how small you think your platform is, you always have an audience. That’s not to say that you should fake the funk for the public eye. Instead it is a subtle reminder that you must be a person of integrity and high moral character regardless of your environment.

4.  Being organised is so much fun
I would like to admit here that I am pretty organised person. I really enjoy collecting things for my stuff to be in order. But this year I’ve realised just how organised I need to be, especially in terms of blogging. I really keep writing stuff but I’m constantly confused about how do I organise it and portray it in the best way I can.

I constantly want to update little things about my blog to make it look better and I want to post more often, but I have to be organised in order to make this happen! So that’s going to be resolved in these upcoming years.

5.  Cutting off toxic people from your life is okay.
This year, I had to cut off many people who weren’t really doing any good to me. It’s not easy, but at the same time it’s okay to do that, whether they’re a relative or not.

If someone just bothers you constantly, there are just two ways to sort that shit out. Either talk about it to that person or just cut them off TOTALLY. Because at the end, the only person who cares about you in this world is you. So, go ahead, be selfish and choose yourself.

6.  Some situations are just out of control.
As much as I wish that I could control some situations, I just can't. Sometimes it’s easier to go with the flow rather than stressing and worrying over something that you can’t do anything about. I need to learn to relax more in such situations because these situations are such where if you speak a word, destruction is caused already and if you don’t, it’s going to kill you mentally.

Following on from the previous one, appreciate the little things, life can be short. I feel like it’s important to be thankful and appreciate of even the smallest things that have happened in your day.

7.   Making mistakes is okay
2018 also taught me that making mistakes are a must. Everyone makes mistakes. But there's a catch to how you deal with it. If you just say that you're not going to repeat the same and avoid it at all costs, you're essentially not learning from your mistake. You're running away from why it happened in the first place. Make mistakes, learn, grow, develop, help others do the same, do what you love and find what you truly seek, what your heart calls out for. Also, it is absolutely fine if this process seems slow.

Your gut somehow knows what it’s doing so let it take you wherever it’s going! Trust yourself and do what YOU love.   I hope that you’ve also spent the time going through and listing out your 2018 to potentially inspire you or even give you a sense of achievement that the year in 2018 was in fact a positive one, if you look at the positives as your focus!

Wishing y'all a happy and a productive NEW YEAR!

-Love XOXO
